Today we went to the Naval Base at Pearl Harbor. Due to regulations, we were unable to take pictures in several places on the base. We met up with Chief Stokes who took us to view the USS Chicago in dry dock. We ate lunch with the men, met the CO and COB, and received a new escort that would take us to the USS Santa Fe to tour an active sub. We had to wait above the ship for a little bit as they prepared to have a GIRL board. Cramped doesn't even begin to describe the submarine. I think I began to understand a portion of Matt's life that was, in the past, mere stories illustrated in my mind.
