Blue's sight in his left eye was seriously compromised earlier in the month, and now an ulcer appeared in his right eye. The Vet sent us AGAIN to a dog optomologist. This time however, we don't have to travel downtown through the hood - we just have to brave the traffic headed north to the Woodlands on I-45 to see Dr. Rainbow. After a quick evaluation, he admitted Blue overnight for emergency surgery. They graphed a piece of tissue over the ulcer to protect the exposed iris and potentially save and restore sight in this eye. He believes the underlying problem is neurological, causing both the eye and sinus problems we have been facing. He is starting what he refers to as an aggressive treatment process on Blue. What that means to us: Nothing really,... 5 Meds 4x a day, just like we've been doing for the previous 2 months. BUT, he is back in the dreaded cone, which causes some difficulty with bathroom needs while he's inside the house, since he doesn't fit through the dog door.
