About a month ago we purchased a "Strider"Bike for Carter. It is made especially for 1-4 year olds. It has no pedals, hardened tires made of some special material that makes off roading easy, and an extremely low profile seat. The point of the bike is to build confidence and promote balance. We tried it out the day that we received it - and Carter's feet BARELY touched the ground. Apparently he's still in the 10th percentile - height wise. Our little guy at 16 months didn't fit the bike made for 12 month olds. Anyways, Matt and I agreed tonight that 'he looked taller'.
Bike'n Round Two:
Without pedals, the kids are supposed to just "walk" with the bike. There's no real fear of falling, because their feet don't leave the ground. After they get comfortable on the bike, and have learned to balance, they can choose to put their feet up on the foot grips and glide along.
Carter needed Daddy to demo
Carter tried walking with it -- he just wasn't on the seat. I think we'll get the hang of this in a couple more tries.
It's just so darn cute!
The link for their website has videos of little guys
