Since we currently own a coffee table that looks like this:

(glass top, pointy wooden corners, completely shatterable)

Carter has fallen victim to this table several times.  His little forehead can't take too many more corner bumps!  AND he likes to chuck things at the glass - because it makes a cool loud noise when it hits. 

We've gone ottoman shopping.  We want one with storage.  We want one that could double as a coffee table.  We want one to provide extra seating in our room.  We want, want, want... 

Here are our top finds:

Squishy top, 4 drawers, wooden feet

Squishy top, large surface - rectangular. Room for baskets of toys below.

4 flip-over trays, "hole" for storage.  

Lift top storage - on hinge. 

We think we want a version of the last one.  We are going to order it 48" x 36".  Should make it so both couches can use it.  Squishy - but firm top for drinks/extra seating...

Who knows.  We think it'll work.  It's gotta be better for Carter and his bruises!
