S.L.O. Graduation

This last weekend, my brother Wayne, graduated from CalPoly San Luis Obispo's Civil Engineering Department.  Congratulations dude!

Black and Blue

Ugly. It's more like purple and green. This photo I took back when I was still shocked at the look of my leg. I think that it was about day 6 of injections. Picture me now! I'm on day 11, and I don't think that one spot has completely healed yet!

Let me tell you... I look damn sexy in a bathing suit.

We saw the heart beating!

Yesterday, ultrasound #2 occurred and this time there was a very active "light spot" within the dark peanut. It was moving so fast! The doctor measured the heart and approximated the pregnancy to be about 5 weeks 6 days along. I guess that would make it 6 weeks today - wouldn't it!

High Risk is High Medicine

So, last Friday, I received a phone call reporting that I tested positive on an APA blood-phospholipid antibodies test. Apparently, I have a predisposition to blood clotting? - which may cause miscarriage if there is a clot - specifically around the placenta. If left untreated, there is a 90 percent chance of miscarriage.

The treatment: a lovely combo of low-dose Asprin and Heprin injections, twice a day.

Add that to my progesterone suppositories and Metformin pills - also twice a day, my prescription strength prenatal pill with DHA, and 2 Tums - for calcium carbonate and it takes me a good thirty minutes to get through my drug routine!

Research shows that by doing all this ... I'm up to a 71 percent chance of carrying to full term, with a healthy baby. Unfortunately, I have 7 more months of injections and my right thigh is starting to appear like it belongs to a battered woman.

Meet Baby Grimes!

Our newest addition ... I'm pregnant with what appears to be, a peanut!

This is it at 5 weeks and 2 days.  We are going to be getting new images each week.  (Our doctor is very thorough.) Can I just tell you how relaxing this image was for me - and Matt too, I believe.  There is ONLY ONE peanut.  PHEWWww!  I was worried.  SO many fertility drugs have entered my system -  I was holding my breath - Thinking we were about to make a new Guiness Record.

Jordan and Cole's New Place

Our friends, Jordan and Cole Scritchfield have been married for just over 2 years now and for the past 9 months or so have been living with her parents in order to save money on rent.  A few months back, they put an offer in on a house in the Rosedale area of Bakersfield and their offer was accepted.  After a few kinks here and there, they got the keys to their first home!

Here it is! 

 It's got 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms... a two car garage that they are thinking of turning into a game room... RV parking, a pool and patio, and a dog run area for their dog Brutus!  Congratulations Jordy and Cole!

Soon to come!

Look at what we now own!  Our lovely cats clawed up the arms of our loveseat, and we are now replacing it and the couch in our living room with a fabric that the sales people say is impermeable.  We'll see.  

No, we didn't buy the ugly rug in this picture.   - or the coffee tables, though they are nice.  Doesn't it look soft and squishy?!!  That is how Matt and I buy furniture.  The Butt Test.  It looks kind of bland, I know... But we are going to be adding throw pillows - AND I LOVE the wood!

Next Thursday they're coming to our house, and  I can't wait!

Our 4th Anniversary

Matt and I decided to purchase "credits" in a travel share about 2 months ago.  As a last minute trip - do to my surgery date - we booked reservations in Big Bear, CA at our travel lodge.  

IT WAS AWESOME!  Allow me to give you a tour of our stay...

The first night, we stayed in a three bedroom, two bathroom, living room, dining room, patio, full kitchen.  ...  it was almost the size of our HOUSE!

Within an hour of arriving, a bottle of champagne and a signed card was delivered to our doorstep.  When I say a signed card, I mean personalized messages written FROM EVERY employee present at the front desk area.  SO WEIRD, and kind of great too!

The second night we moved into a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom place - that looked identical, minus a room and a couple of sinks.  We wanted to tryout a couple of different room selections - just to get a better idea of what we had purchased.  

REALLY great service.  Such fun.  The grounds were beautiful.  

We want to go back next year during ski season (I wasn't recovered enough to do much of anything... walking the shops was taxing enough).  

Sick

I have been fighting a darn cold for 7 days now.  I think I've coughed enough to permanently injure a lung.  I ache.  My head hurts.  I look beat.

Tonight we went to the store to pick up some popscicles - sooth the throat... We got the classic.

and it was good. 

I've never seen Matt more attentive!  Apparently, I've still got it!

I'm starting to feel myself again - it's been six weeks (almost) and I can kind of tolerate laying on my stomach.  

Strange how tiny the scars and how great the pain.
