Thursday-From Estes Park to Denver, CO

Wednesday - Steamboat Springs to Estes Park, CO.

This was our toughest travel day yet.  It was supposed to be a beautiful 5 hour drive through the Rockies... although we started out the day by driving an hour in the wrong direction.

Our driving misfortune was only compounded when we reached the national park  - drove about 45 minutes into it, got within 20 minutes of Estes Park and discovered the road closed.

Our 5 hour drive turned into an 8 hour trip.
Grrr!

Thankfully - our long drive was scenic!  It wasn't only filled with animal statues, but REAL
MOOSES, ELK, DEER, and even a WOLF!

We were so tired and hungry when we reached Estes Park - only to find that most restaurants closed at 8pm due to MUD SEASON.  We were able to talk some restaurant workers into making us some food "to go".  THANK GOODNESS for them!

I'd say that we wore him out.
The following morning, we ate breakfast at The Egg and I.  It was super yummy!

Since we didn't get a chance to enjoy Estes Park the night before, we walked the town after breakfast.
Carter found himself a wolf - and rode it!
